with host artist Miriam Schulman
You can always use more ways to sell art, and I love sharing more ways for you to make extra money from your art. I shared 3 Quick Cash Strategies for Creatives in a previous episode, but today I’m bringing you another fun and simple way to quickly sell more art.
In this podcast, you will discover…
Today, I’m going to give you the rundown on how to sell more art from an open studio whether it’s indoors or outdoors!
“The number of people who buy versus the people who show up are always much higher, […] most people who do show up are going to buy.”
- What’s an open studio strategy
- Why are open studios a great way to sell your art
- How and what to sell during an open studio
If you’re considering new ways to make money as an artist, an open studio can be a great way to showcase your works in progress, your finished pieces, and any other items you may have such as calendars to sell. It’s a small and more intimate setup, so remember it’s okay to expect smaller numbers of people, and that means you’ll want to create an experience that’s inviting and great for collecting art.
“If you don’t have something that they want, now’s a good time to take a commission.”

About the host, Miriam Schulman
In case we haven’t met yet, I’m an artist and founder of The Inspiration Place, where I help other artists learn how to profit from their passion or become better artists. Through online classes, business coaching programs, and a top-ranked podcast, I’ve helped thousands of artists around the world develop their skill sets and create more time and freedom to do what they love. My signature coaching program, The Artist Incubator, helps artists go from so-so sales to sold-out collections.
After witnessing 9/11, I abandoned a lucrative hedge fund job to work on my art full time. Since then, my art and story have been featured in major publications including Forbes, What Women Create, The New York Times, Art of Man, Art Journaling magazine as well as featured on NBC’s “Parenthood” and the Amazon series “Hunters” with Al Pacino. Check out my best-selling book with HarperCollins Leadership, Artpreneur, how to make money from your creativity, wherever books are sold. When I’m not in the studio, I split my time between New York City and a farmhouse in the country. I’d love to invite you to check out one of my free resources for art lovers (of every passion level) at schulmanart.com/freebies

I’m getting smarter through Miriam’s podcast. She covers everything in Marie Forleo’s B-School (I’m an alum) but with more distilled insight, more practical tools, and more laser focus on mindset specifically for folks who have a creative business. (I’m an author strategy coach – helping entrepreneurs market their work and get published). What I love is that I keep sharing with my writer clients, my illustrator clients, and anyone who’s running a business. Every time Miriam says “artist”; I substitute “creative” or “writer”. Every last topic is applicable way beyond artists who work with paint. If you are a creative in any way, every episode of this podcast will help you and your business grow.
😱 If you're struggling to get your ART BUSINESS off the ground — it's NOT your fault.
And it's not because you don't work hard enough. You're just focusing on all the wrong things!
