with host artist Miriam Schulman
When I submitted the book proposal for Artpreneur, the most pushback I got was on why I didn’t include a chapter on social media. I wanted my book to be a classic, to still be relevant in five years, and social media is evolving so often that I knew adding it would be a mistake. Instead of just dropping the topic completely, I decided to dive deeper and make a stronger case for why social media isn’t as important as you might believe.
The thing is, social media is no longer what it was. It’s constantly changing so the techniques that work now could no longer work in six months. The average engagement on some platforms is so low it’s not worth the time you need to put in to get those engagements.
“Marketing and mindset trump talent.” – Miriam Schulman
So how can you still use social media today so that it’s still worth your time and effort?
In this podcast, you will discover…
Here are three topics I talk about more in this episode:
- Secure earned media coverage to effectively expand your online presence.
- Identify the most valuable social media platforms for your art and avoid the time wasters
- Use social media to build relationships and engage with your audience, rather than a substitute for traditional marketing
“Traditional marketing trumps social media.” – Miriam Schulman
I’m not going to tell you to stop using social media. It still has its place. But you can’t let it be your only platform and it’s better to explore methods and channels beyond social media.
Message me on Instagram, DM me “Believe” and see for yourself how social media can be used to connect and you’ll receive the first chapter of my book Artpreneur for free.

About the host, Miriam Schulman
In case we haven’t met yet, I’m an artist and founder of The Inspiration Place, where I help other artists learn how to profit from their passion or become better artists. Through online classes, business coaching programs, and a top-ranked podcast, I’ve helped thousands of artists around the world develop their skill sets and create more time and freedom to do what they love. My signature coaching program, The Artist Incubator, helps artists go from so-so sales to sold-out collections.
After witnessing 9/11, I abandoned a lucrative hedge fund job to work on my art full time. Since then, my art and story have been featured in major publications including Forbes, What Women Create, The New York Times, Art of Man, Art Journaling magazine as well as featured on NBC’s “Parenthood” and the Amazon series “Hunters” with Al Pacino. My forthcoming book with HarperCollins Leadership, Artpreneur, how to make money from your creativity is scheduled for release on January 31, 2023. When I’m not in the studio, I split my time between New York City and a farmhouse in the country. A pricing Your Art; Prestige vs Charm
☆☆☆☆☆
This is a fascinating and informative podcast. I know nothing about consumer psychology except a bit about real estate. I would recommend listening to this podcast to anyone who is considering selling their art. Possibly it applies to other types of sales as well. Choosing a price point involves a number of factors, but how to specifically price a piece is a different strategy, as this podcast explains.

I’ve been in the art studio making some new videos, a whole 12-part series called: Artpreneur Affirmations. I took each chapter title in the book and made an art journal page out of each.
You can't buy this course separately!
