with host artist Miriam Schulman
Today, we are diving deep into my morning routine. I’ve always been fascinated with routines and rituals as successful people, so I thought it only fitting that I share with you my morning routine. Making art, producing these podcasts, and creating my online classes is only possible if I start my day in the best way possible.
My current routine is a little bit different than what I shared with you a few years ago when I still had kids living at home.
By the way, two weeks from now is my special holiday episode (episode 020). I’m really looking forward to answering your questions on the podcast, so to do that, be sure you either send an e-mail to support@theinspirationplace.net with your question, leave a question on the blog post, or leave me an audio message. To leave me an audio message, all you have to do is go to SchulmanArt.com/ask.
In this podcast, you will discover…
- FIVE essential things that I do every morning to maintain focus
- a general overview of how I manage my days and my week so I can get as much done as possible.

Listener shout out of the week!
“Miriam, Michael,
[Episode 17 of the] podcast was eye-opening for me. The four myths of success were really compelling. I recently participated in a local Studio Tour believing that it would be an amazing success to my art career. (Myth of Deus Ex Machina). I did the work and found that while I was thrilled to see friends come by for support, sales were disappointing. After listening to this podcast, I realized that I was falling prey to the Myth of Deus Ex Machina, that this Studio Tour would be the holy grail. It was a great event, but I had expectations that were way beyond what it was designed to provide. Thanks for the lesson. I now understand that the work is about building relationships with the local community. Miriam, you gave some great examples of how you do this. Thank you for this compelling podcast series, it’s a real service to the art community.”

Hi Miriam, all is well with me! Thanks for checking. If I do not have time to listen to podcasts I wait until I do. Same with art class. And, for art, I just have to be I. The mood. I’m not going to train people in art, but I will listen if it is something that interests me, when I can.
I sent a message last week to ask what printer you suggest. I cannot find my notes on that.
Enjoy your day!!

My morning routine has similar components. I usually get up at 6:30 and feed the cats, then meditate for 5 or so minutes. My walking partners arrive at 7 and we walk for an hour. Then it’s time for breakfast and calendar review/journaling before I get to work. I’ve been doing this for a few years and it really sets the focus and tone for the day.
