Black history is American history

The drums of Africa still beat in my heart

Morning Spirit, 24×24″ Abstract Art

I have been infatuated with the highly stylized and abstracted forms from Africa, be it sculptures, masks or reliefs. This video is a glimpse of some of the art I have been creating inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Africa. For each piece I used an actual museum artifact as the starting point for an original artwork. Click HERE to see all African Art for sale.

  1. Wow, I am honored, thank you for including MyCoCreations' baby hat and booties set on your blog. The Handmade collective thanks you as well!

I love the power that emanates from African inspired art. When you can "feel" the artist it is an amazing treat. The colors and the imagery invokes a feeling of oneness and I believe that a lot of modern art stems from African culture.

I love the vibrant colors and symbols used in African art. The intention never seemed to be about a literal translation of the world instead creations where there to remind us of the Spirits, Ancestors and stories that spoke of our creation.I like how modern design is using some of the wax fabrics to integrate simplicity with stark contrast.

    Thanks again!
