List the ways you can love others

Art Journal Prompt by @schulmanArt, Miriam Schulman

art journal

A great art journal prompt is to list the ways that you can show love for others. I started making this list during a long car ride. I am sure there are more ways, but since I was doing my fancy font I ran out of room but I think got some of the most essentials ones. I would love to know your ideas!

Prepare a meal

Perhaps it is because I am a Jewish mother, or a mother, but I feel the most basic way you can show love for someone else is to prepare a meal. Notice I didn’t say “cook.” It is just as loving to buy prepared foods from their favorite place and set the table nicely. I think the animal kingdom would agree that sharing your food is loving your family.

Tell them why they are special

You can just say “I love you” but even more loving is to tell them why they are special.

Even better than talking to people you love is to listen to them.

Pay attention

When you put down your juiced up rectangle ( y’know, that smart phone you are looking at right now) you are showing love. Give them your attention, your full attention.

  1. Debbie- Glad you enjoyed this post. I have to reread my own gratitude lists. with these last days of winter I have to remember to be grateful there will be spring —thanks for the reminder!! –Miriam

  2. Dear Miriam – what a great list…all of your items echo in my thoughts as well. Especially the listen part…I often forget that it is an action and truly an act of love. Took time to read through several of your other lists in this lovely art journal…what great inspiration. Love the gratitude list – I keep one as well…makes me feel so much better when I read back through it – really chases those "feeling sorry for myself" blues away!
