179: Becoming a Bad Ass Artist with Tiare Smith and Miriam Schulman

with host artist Miriam Schulman

Tiare Smith joins me to share her artist’s journey. Like many of us, she didn’t pursue her art for many years. She first followed the path that well-meaning people assured her would be better for her financially. You’ll be inspired by her passion and energy for teaching others to embrace their own inner artist.

In this podcast, you will discover…

Hear why she put her pencil down for 18 years and why she was inspired to pick back up once again. She shares how her technique changed and evolved when she began creating again.

Tiare also explains the inspiration for her paintings of women. She pays tribute to the women in her life who nurtured and encouraged her. She also acknowledges growth and transformation in her work.

She explains why she doesn’t define the facial features in her paintings. We also talk about the significance of the dragonfly and why her flowers are another aspect of her unique vision.

Teaching is still part of her passion. She teaches mixed media art journaling to help people express themselves. It’s a great way to warm up and it provides freedom to try new things.

“Sometimes you just need to make art.”

About the host, Miriam Schulman

In case we haven’t met yet, I’m an artist and founder of The Inspiration Place, where I help other artists learn how to profit from their passion or become better artists. Through online classes, business coaching programs, and a top-ranked podcast, I’ve helped thousands of artists around the world develop their skill sets and create more time and freedom to do what they love. My signature coaching program, The Artist Incubator, helps artists go from so-so sales to sold-out collections.

After witnessing 9/11, I abandoned a lucrative hedge fund job to work on my art full time. Since then, my art and story have been featured in major publications including Forbes, What Women Create, The New York Times, Art of Man, Art Journaling magazine as well as featured on NBC’s “Parenthood” and the Amazon series “Hunters” with Al Pacino. Check out my best-selling book with HarperCollins Leadership, Artpreneur, how to make money from your creativity, wherever books are sold. When I’m not in the studio, I split my time between New York City and a farmhouse in the country.
