Why the Goal Beyond the Goal is Important
What is your big goal? Is it big enough? Think of a goal as your destination, and they beyond goal to keep your expectations high.
A goal that excites you is much more likely to keep you motivated. We know that our thoughts create our feelings which in turn, determines our actions and results.

Affirmations for Artists
I recently moved to the upper west side in NYC, and it’s got me feeling like I’m living inside a Seinfeld episode complete with our own Kramer in the building.
A favorite episode is one where Jerry’s friend George is afraid his show might be successful which can only mean something terrible is going to happen. Fear of failure is more common than you might think.
Focus on your steps to success instead of worrying about what might (or might not) happen.

How to Get People to Connect with You and Your Art
No matter the type of art you create, words will be necessary. Lean into who you are, what you believe and the why about what you do.
If it’s easier to talk about this instead of writing, have a conversation with a friend explaining these concepts about your art in general or a latest piece. Have it transcribed and use those words and phrases on your website and in social media.

Recession Proof Your Art Business
I recently read a report about the US economy. Part of the report talked about an expected recession, but there were bright spots as well.
One trend that’s changing is shopping activity. People are craving in-person experiences. They might be budgeting some expenses, but they are likely to continue spending for experiences.

Meet Artist Beverly Barkat
I recently took a trip to Israel to visit my son. While I was there, we went to see an amazing sculpture called Earth Poetica by artist Beverly Barkat. She turned trash into art and seeing it in person was well worth it.
Her work reminds us of the world’s plastic trash problem and our connection to nature.

About the host, Miriam Schulman
In case we haven’t met yet, I’m an artist and founder of The Inspiration Place, where I help other artists learn how to profit from their passion or become better artists. Through online classes, business coaching programs, and a top-ranked podcast, I’ve helped thousands of artists around the world develop their skill sets and create more time and freedom to do what they love. My signature coaching program, The Artist Incubator, helps artists go from so-so sales to sold-out collections.
After witnessing 9/11, I abandoned a lucrative hedge fund job to work on my art full time. Since then, my art and story have been featured in major publications including Forbes, What Women Create, The New York Times, Art of Man, Art Journaling magazine as well as featured on NBC’s “Parenthood” and the Amazon series “Hunters” with Al Pacino. Check out my best-selling book with HarperCollins Leadership, Artpreneur, how to make money from your creativity, wherever books are sold. When I’m not in the studio, I split my time between New York City and a farmhouse in the country. I found this podcast at the beginning of this year when I launched my art business, and it really has been an incredible source of information with so much gold to help keep me focused and inspired. I have literally just finished going through each and every episode last week, just before the podcast reached 200 episodes… and I’m pretty disappointed I now have to wait an entire week between episodes like everyone else! Highly recommend this to everyone wanting to stay inspired and focused on reaching their artistic goals!
